The #10 wide blade has long been used for large animals, such as horses, however, may also be used to clip really matted coats on dogs when a longer blade cannot cope.
More recently other sixes of wide blades have been introduced as the wide blade will take off more hair on each stroke reducing clip time.
These blades are standard snap-on A5 clipper blades that will fit most professional brands of clippers with snap-on blades, including Laube, Wahl/Moser, Heiniger, Oster and Andis. They are used by grooms, show exhibitors /breeders and pet owners.
This hardened steel blade is as durable as the top brands of blades at a great price and can be resharpened multiple times to further increase the cost-effectiveness of this blade.

The most common A5 blade for horse clipping is a 10 Wide, however, the length can vary from 1.2 mm to 2.5 mm depending on the specific model. If you are looking for a blade to match what you already have, check the on the blade for is size (10W for example) and the length (2.4mm for example) any blade with those same numbers should be very similar.
Beyond this you may wish to keep some different sizes of blades for specific jobs, the come in a variety of sizes depending on what you are looking for, a longer blade (5F maybe) to keep a bit more feather on the legs, a standard width blade (10) for the face. To begin width I would stick with the 10 Wide.
